Free Museum Weekend Logo

2024 marks the 26th consecutive year that Sacramento Area Museums have collaborated to present a FREE Museum experience!  This year, 20+ amazing museums located throughout the greater Sacramento area are excited to present a two-day FREE Museum Weekend on March 2-3.

Similar to last year, advance tickets are required, capacity is limited, and availability may fluctuate by museum. All guests must pre-register for free admission, otherwise, regular admission fees will apply.

If you need to cancel your visit or realized you have more tickets than you need, please let us know as soon as possible so we can re-release those tickets! To cancel all or some of your tickets: please reply to your confirmation email to let us the cancellations you need to make. We will review all cancelations and then release the tickets back to the public! Tickets are limited so please don't hold onto tickets you are not going to use so that someone else may use them.

Saturday (March 2) tickets will be available starting on Friday, February 9 at 8AM.

Sunday (March 3) tickets will be available starting on Friday, February 16 at 8AM.

Each year, Free Museum Day draws thousands of Sacramentans to local museums to experience the fascinating art, culture, and history of the region. In 2021, our collaborative group of Sacramento Museums went entirely virtual with Free Museum Month for the safety of our guests and museum staff. For 2022, we will present a hybrid event by hosting an exciting Free Museum Weekend (March 5 & 6) where guests will be able to choose to visit their favorite Museum(s) in-person and/or through online virtual activities (space is limited and advance tickets are required for free admission). Not all museums are participating on both days of the event. All guests must pre-register for free admission, otherwise, regular admission fees will apply.

Here is how it works:
