Due to the recent public health concerns surrounding the coronavirus or COVID-19, the Sacramento Area Museums are encouraging guests of Sacramento museums to be mindful of sanitation best practices and stay home if sick. Each museum will handle the situation as they deem appropriate; some may have reduced hours to undergo daily deep cleaning of their exhibits. Please check individual museum websites for more information on their plans. The Sacramento Area Museums are encouraging all guests who are feeling ill to stay home and save their visit until they are feeling well. Below are a few tips on best practices for staying clean and safe while visiting.

Health & Safety Tips

  • The health and safety of the community, our visitors, staff, and volunteers is our number one priority.

  • To promote cleanliness, everyone is encouraged to wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds as often as possible, especially after eating, touching items in public spaces and using the restroom.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Stay home when you are sick or feeling ill.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands thoroughly.
